Why Use Environment Marker?
In IT projects, working with multiple environments—such as development, QA, staging, and production—is common. However, since these environments often look identical, mistakes can happen.
Have you ever intended to run a "quick test" in the development environment, only to realize too late that you were actually in production? Misconfigurations and accidental changes can easily occur because the only visible difference is the discreet URL in the browser's address bar.
That is where Environment Marker comes in. This free and open-source Chrome extension lets you define your project’s environment URLs and assign a colored label in the browser window to identify them at a glance.

I like how it makes it very obvious. I wish it could work based on IP address instead of URL - our production and dev is always the same URL, but we manipulate which PROD/DEV by adjusting the hosts file. We need a tool like Environment Marker to help us know which site we are on at all times but it needs to be based on IP address, not restricted to URL only

I really enjoyed it. It prevents us from making silly mistakes among the environments. Our DEV team is installing on their machines !!! I would like to be able to customize the font size to allow me to see up to 2 lines. The reason is that sometimes we need to display the "Project´s name + Environment" . Anyway, my friend, congrats and tks a lot!!!

Simple but Extremely Effective! I know this is going to be one of my favorite extensions and will be one that I reinstall right away, whenever I am setting up a new environment!
Great idea and I really like the easy identification marker that shows up. One problem for me at least - was that I couldn't access controls under it. I was hoping there could be option to move it around the screen - like different corners or even the sides..
Super helpful for our dev team. Works like a charm. No more special code needed when cloning environments.
Very easy to use and setup. Would love to get more customization options (change type of ribbon, placement, text type, hide on mouse hover, etc).
Fonctionne bien mais j'avais besoin de cette application également pour détecter les différentes IP. Elle ne fonctionne que par nom de domaine malheureusement.
