With this extension, in every new Chrome tab you’ll see masterpieces ranging from Van Gogh and Monet, all the way to contemporary works from street artists around the world. The artwork is refreshed every day, or you can change the settings to see a new image every time you open a new tab.

Love this! But I'd like a bit more information about the artist/painting to be displayed without having to click to the website. A complete label which dates the painting. Year of birth and death of artist. Country of origin and perhaps period.

Provides cultural enrichment by showing a beautiful artwork each time a user opens a new Chrome tab, replacing the default new tab page

Extension overrides Chrome's new tab page (chrome_url_overrides). Background service worker fetches artwork data JSON from gstatic.com/culturalinstitute/tabext/imax_2_2.json and caches it. When user opens a new tab, the newtab page renders a curated artwork with title, artist name, and attribution. User can click 'Change' button to rotate artwork, click artwork description to visit Google Arts & Culture for details, or use settings to toggle top sites/apps buttons and artwork rotation frequency.
