This extension adds a toolbar button to your browser to perform OCR. When this action button is pressed, it allows the user to select a region in the currently active window. The extension captures the area and tries to recognize text inside this region using the internal powerful OCR engine (Tesseract engine). This extension uses the "tesseract.js" library that supports more than 100 languages, automatic text orientation, and script detection.
This extension loads the JS library on the page and removes it when you are done. This way, there is no long-term resource usage.
Engines:
Tesseract: Only extracts plain text from images and doesn't preserve formatting
IBM Granite-Docling: it can accurately interpret headings, lists, styles (bold, italics), tables, and mathematical equations.

Absolutely Brilliant! I really miss not having Google Lens in Google Chrome Browser running on a PC. It is kind of there - but you have to click on a picture on the page rather than capture the whole page. On a cell phone, I can screen capture any page, share that with Lens and then any text that is present is highlighted and I can sweep across what I want and copy the text into a notepad. I actually use this in Spotify to grab a copy of all music tracks in a playlist. (Beats having to manually type it all into a note on a small cell phone!) The Google Lens for PC Chrome browser doesn't work at all the same. It is, at this point, totally useless. HOWEVER this extension DOES WORK! I first tried using it like I do with Google Lens on a cell phone - grabbing a Spotify page where a first column lists the track name with the artist underneath and a second column with the album title. That didn't work so hot, resulting in a hodgepodge of text. So I tried just copying the first column alone... PERFECT! Absolutely Spot On!
