this used to work so well, but now it just gives either a login cycle loop or if i can log in, it gives me error when trying to add to library
It does not offer many of the functionality. Why can we not add tags while saving articles to the library. It shouldn't be too difficult to implement. Also it cannot detect PDF on IEEEXplore website. It is one of the major research repository, why do you not support pdf detection there?
What went wrong? All I needed was a click on the icon and the pop-up gave me options to select what I wanted to import. Now it asks me to sign, I do and then nothing follow. The request to sign in stays the same. The cycle repeats if you offer to sign in again. It was not so! What went wrong? Note that I have re-installed five times now.
This is the best one. I've tried the other options - EndNote Online, Zotero. This one is very well-designed and has the most features for free. You don't have to worry about paying for something you might not use that much. If all you care about is managing references (rather than saving PDFs), you'll never hit the 2 GB data limit. The web plugin is fantastic! It fits in seamlessly with the articles, has a great workflow, and actually helps you access full articles more quickly from the abstracts. I have multiple ad blockers and content blockers installed and none of them interfered with Mendeley's performance. No bugs, no issues with login. These are things I'm seeing in top reviews from 2+ years ago that have probably been patched since then. I had all these articles open in ~50 tabs that had been a PITA to try to get into either of the other ref managers I mentioned. With Mendeley's plugin it was so simple and quick! Thank you, you've saved my semester :)
Doesn't even open or let me use it for, you know, the main reason people use it as an extension
Can't login
Error: "Pdf not found" it worked well before, but now it cannot download pdf file from ieeexplore.ieee.org (pdf file are available because I connecting using academic network).
Not stable.
Doesn't work effectively, constantly crashes or gives an "error" message, a complete waste of time. It's easier just to manually enter entries into the Mendeley desktop library.
I really don't understand why this web app needs the "enhanced and updated" permissions it requests. Why does a reference manager need to know my GPS location, age, or my download history? I've just been prompted to give (new) permissions and I don't like it! I'm going to move to using an open-source solution where at least I know what is going on.
