📍 Precision is achieved with Google's free DNS-over-HTTPS service.
The backend that I run at 🔐 https://geoip.furman.im provides country, city, region, and post code data.
🙅♀️ Extension respects user's privacy. Neither it listens to user's network traffic, nor does it collect any data, nor does it track or identify users in any way, and never will. The same applies to the backend service.
🥬 GeoLite2 database created by MaxMind, available from maxmind.com, is updated twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays, so geographical data is always as fresh as MaxMind makes it.

Good one ^_^
It seems the last update from the "MaxMind City DB" is more then a year old! Any DB updates planned or an option to select source lookup url? The extension is light and perfect EXCEPT for its outdated MaxMind DB!
Plugin abandoned by the author, requires a connection to a database located on his website that no longer exists.
A good plugin but it does the lookup based on a remote server and not based on your actual DNS. Prime example is here in South Africa Google shows a US flag when the mirror is actually in South Africa. The IP the plugin resolves is not the same as the one resolved in nslookup. WIPMania plugin for Firefox is the only Flag tool that does this correctly I have found.
Works better than the others, trust me - I've tried them all.
