Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.

What's New in 3.0:

==================

* Updated to Manifest V3.

Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.

This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Shocking, frankly - Arbitrarily taking away a shortcut I've used since before I can remember. Then requiring an extension rather than making a flag. Works fine but 1-star for how absurd this is. How hard would it have been to have a post-update pop-up window *asking* if I want to remove backspace as a shortcut?

It works well enough, but for what purpose? Why don't you just add an option to reenable it in the settings?

Thanks for the extension but I'm shocked that something I do maybe hundreds of times a day, randomly stopped working one day just because Google auto-updated my browser. I really dislike the modern idea of apps that change constantly behind your back instead of at predictable times, without even giving you the courtesy of telling you what changed. edit: and losing browser data is always a risk, I recommend the Lazarus extension for that.

Rated a 1 because Google was incredibly stupid to change this without leaving a setting to put it back. And why change it to begin with? STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!

5 Stars because it makes it better again and more people should benefit from it (it's about what it was before so does exactly what you want). But what an idiots to make this a plugin instead of a flag. You always change things because a lot of people ask for it but without realizing that even more might like it as it is.

This does not need to be an extension.
