This eye-care extension enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colours to make web pages high contrast and easier to read.
Adjust brightness, contrast, the sepia filter, font preferences. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.
This is the original Dark Reader extension. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

EDITED (new edit on top, older part below) I was certain that I fully tested to confirm my conclusions. I turned off all extensions and found that only with Dark reader enabled did I get the orange browser bug. BUT, today after having disabled the Dark Reader extension for about a week I got the orange bug again. It must be something else causing it. Apologies. It may be related though as when I re-enable Dark Reader the orange bug happens much more often. I am keeping it disabled for now. Original post: I liked this extension before the last update. I used it for maybe 6 months or more. After the latest update (4.9.119) I have had to disable it because after a few minutes of use it turns my entire browser orange. Not just the website part of the browser, the WHOLE thing, including all the toolbars and tab bar, bookmark bar, etc, it's ALL orange. I can't even disable the extension when the orange bug activates because the extension page is also orange. And I did try but the Dark Reader keyboard shortcuts don't disable the orange. There is some bug there that needs to be fixed. Pretty much makes it unusable. I am using Brave Browser (which is built on chromium). Hoping it gets fixed in the next update.

I have tried several dark mode extensions for Chrome, and this one is by far the best I have tried. Reasons below: 1. It works. Many others simply do not work or they are very slow. 2. It immediately changes your screen to dark/light mode when you toggle it. Others make you refresh your page or take a while to change your screen. 3. It changes all your tabs at once. I don't like how other ones make you go to every single tab and manually change each one to dark mode. This one changes all of them. If you don't want it to, you can change that though. 4. It does not simply invert the colors of your pages. It knows what to darken, and I have not had an experience where it puts dark text over the dark background. 5. It doesn't slow down your Chrome like many other extensions.
