It works
Sems to update Youtube after each change in preference, which is what I was looking for. It does seem to slow Youtube down a slight bit, though that might well just be because I set my preferences high (1440p for all framerates)

Ulan yıllardır her videoyu sabit kalitede izlemek için psikopat oldum. Çözümü bu kadar basitmiş. Youtube'un bunu yapmaması berbat bir şey.
