A web browser extension for checking accessibility issues
Simulates how people with disabilities experience the web
Will triple your errors over other automated accessibility checkers, which is an issue. It catches unnecessary things that will keep your development groups scrambling rather than releasing. There has to be a middle ground where something meets WCAG 2.1AA without going overboard. We've stopped using this plugin for anything other than Figma.
As a product designer, Stark has transformed how I approach accessible design. The automated color contrast checking, focus order visualization, and color blindness simulation have helped me catch accessibility issues early. The touch target size checker is particularly useful for mobile designs. Their documentation and tips have also improved my understanding of WCAG guidelines. A must have for any designer serious about creating inclusive products
Not worth it. Nice UI, and I get that you have to monetize, but I'm not signing up just to get the same info dev tools can give me. At least make some features accessible without an account.
Stark says on their website that their "Starter" (free) version includes "WCAG Scans in browser", which is technically true I guess, it does let me scan the page... However, it won't show me the actual result unless I upgrade to a premium subscription, so that is pretty useless. Manual tools work fine though, I'm just annoyed with the false advertising.
On their website it says landmarks is free, but it was actually a paid feature after installing the extension.
Love having this integrated as part of my browser as it gives me the flexibility to check accessibility in the likes of Canva all the way through to tools like PowerBI
This extension is very promising and I have worked with pleasure with the contrast function. 3 starred, because first feature "contrast" (and now newer features) are behind a login wall. There are other products (also extensions) out there that do some of these basic checks for "free", and have been doing this way longer than Stark is. Will re-use when at least contrast feature is provided without login. Thank you for your contribution to an Accessible web anyway!
Stark is my go to contrast checker and simulator. Whether it's in Chrome or your favorite design software this is a must have. Download it as fast as you can, and you'll soon wonder how you ever worked without it.
The eye dropper is not selecting colors correctly. Otherwise everything is great!
Stark is absolutely fantastic and it's integrated so well into Chrome! It's quickly become a must have design tool and there's no excuse not to have it now that it's right in Chrome. Can't recommend it enough! 🙌
