"A study from 2008 showed that if spaces are placed after what are commonly regarded as words in Chinese, Chinese native speakers reading actually becomes faster and easier." -- Julesy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCSe3dgGVMQ
If the introduction of spacing provides measurable benefits for native Chinese readers, these benefits are likely to be even more pronounced for non-native readers.
Learn Chinese by reading, listening, and practicing speaking Chinese with this CWS army knife. Oh, and you can practice writing with it too.

it's good now. but it will be better if English words are shown as pinyin. we can learn faster.
This is incredibly helpful. thanks so much for your work developing this extension.
At first, I don't find it very user-friendly. It took me maybe some time to figure how to use the Chrome extension. But then I realize if I translate the page to Chinese from English I can use the Chrome extension quite well! I have upgraded from 3 to 4 stars. Thank you so much! My only request would be other voices to use for the read aloud; I'd prefer a more feminine voice, the masculine one sounds a little grouchy.
This is the Best Extension to learn Chinese. Anyway, where is "My Setup" file located? I want to backup the file to my local PC. Very quickly solved problem. Thank you for your strong support.
Using CWS:CD for Beginners of the Chinese Language (For a Computer/Laptop): 1.) Install Chinese words separator 2.) Go into Settings -i. Select "Familiarity" in Hànzì colors -ii. Check "Show calligraphy in word dictionary" 3.) Create a free Deckademy account 4.) Look up "Chinese Small Sentences 20,000" on Deckademy and start the course 5.) Take out a notepad, fancy grid paper, or literally any drawable surface and start rewriting the phrases as you learn (the calligraphy setting will show you stroke order as you hover your mouse over the character) 6.) Have fun learning! ❤️ Optional: If you have a drawing tablet, see if your OS allows you to install the Chinese language *with handwriting* (Windows 10/11 has this, I'm not sure about MacOS or Linux, do your research) and write out and enter the Chinese sentences as you learn in Deckademy.
Literally so good. My only issue is that everytime i hover over any character it pauses the youtube video im watching. Is there a setting to turn it off?

This app is great. You've made my life better. Thank you so much!
I’ve been using this app for about two years now, and honestly I can’t live without it anymore, I guess that also means my Chinese haven’t improved enough haha So the "separating colors" feature for tone-based visualization is a complete game changer, it’s helped me remember pinyin visually thanks to this app, I’ve been complimented on my pronunciation by Chinese way more often, so I can’t thank you enough I have one question though, do you know of any websites where I can use this extension effectively for TTS while practicing? I’ve been using Natural Reader, but it's noticeably slow when loading sentences, so it’s not great for chatting with Chinese speakers , with something like Google Translate’s voice feature the extension doesn’t get applied there, so I can’t see both the tones (colors) and hear the audio simultaneously. Any recommendations for a better website? Thank you for creating such an amazing tool!
