The Save to Google Drive Chrome extension helps you save web content or browser screenshots to your Google Drive.
* Adds a browser action to save the current page.
* Adds a right-click context menu to save hyperlinks and media.
* Configurable through an options page.
This extension allow you to save web content directly to Google Drive through a browser action or context menu. You can save documents, images, and HTML5 audio and video all by right clicking and selecting 'Save to Google Drive'. You can save the currently viewed page using the 'Save to Google Drive' browser action. The directory location and format of saved HTML pages can be controlled with the extension's options page (Choice of Entire image (default), Visible image, Raw HTML, MHTML, or Google Doc). You can automatically convert Microsoft Office files or comma separated files to Google Docs format.
After your content is saved, the progress dialog allows you to open the file, rename, or view the file in the Google Drive document list. From the document list, you can organize and share your new document.

Brilliantly simple!
As default, it saves a picture of a webpage which is helpful to a certain extent, but with other options being shoddy such as saving as html or google document doesn't add much more. I think it would be better if it were more integrated with chrome instead of being a small utility as it is now. It would be WONDERFUL if, when prompted to download an item (Save As), you could save it directly to your online Drive storage instead of an on-board file. Also the ability to save things to google drive through raw dl link alone.
A joke, compared to competitors like Evernote, OneNote, ...

I've always been a Google fan and never an Apple one. BUT, this is a looooooooong way away from the Apple Book, which saves every website exactly as it appeared at the time you save it. Apple's is SUPER useful, this is pretty useless. With websites at least. Saved a few sample pages like CNN.com and BBC.com. When you open it in Drive they show up as XML text.
I opens a pop-up to show you progress, but then leaves it open. After a few saves, your desktop is littered with pop-ups that you have to close one at a time. There's no option to auto-close these. Further, when saving webpages as PNG, the process is exceedingly slow. C'mon, guys!
Buena extension
It's useful to be able to save images, etc. to Google Drive. But I think what this really needs to be is a way to save web links. At the very least, images saved should have the URL they came from in the description. There's no easy way, at the moment, to save online research and links to Google Drive. This is better, but it's not going to be there until we have something more like what Google Keep does, where you get a preview that can be clicked to take you directly to the webpage.
