This is exactly what I was looking for. My only caveat with it is that hitting the 'Enter' key does not work to activate the 'search' button after typing the word, forcing me to manually move the cursor and click on it, which is a bit annoying. Mind you, I love the fact that double-clicking on a word and then opening the extension automatically searches for that word
Pro tip: If you get bothered by the default shortcut (Ctrl + shift + q), you can just change it. Just go to "manage extensions" then "keyboard and shortcuts", and edit the shortcut that triggers this extension. I, for example, have it as (Alt+ x).
It works pretty well but has a feature that i think is necessary to fix. It doesn't offer any configuration options (only has a configurable shortcut to open the extension) and it would be great to choose a default dictionary to go faster. ¿Whats the difference between opening a new tab with word reference using a custom shortcut? I think this is the major lack of the app but, as i said before, it is good. Im not using it because of the default dictionary issue but i truly would like to it if this is fixed.

Only worth if you don't need the audio pronunciation feature of Wordreference. Broken now. Dead. Deleted.
