I could not get this to work at all for me. But Like Steven Garratt said Need to be able to restore sessions and if can't do it with this then it's unusable. Tab Suspender is so far better. It has setting to how tabs are suspended and unsuspended so far so good fiabciakcmgepblmdkmemdbbkilneeeh
A flawed app if you also use in conjunction with a session manager. I use session buddy too and when i go to restore a session (if the tabs it saved were suspended at the time of saving the session) the suspended tabs don't get restored because the url has been changed by this app to a generic url that is the location of the app itself WITHOUT any mention of the url the app suspended so its impossible to properly restore a session - the suspended tabs are lost for good! Definitely NOT GOOD! I don't think it would be difficult to implement a solution for this if the developer wanted to though. Let's hope they do and soon! I just tried reinstalling this on my mac and immediately got a warning of a virus! DON'T USE!
❌ I don't want to put a timer for suspending new tabs from now on, I want to immediately suspend open tabs from all windows. Useless.
I used to have the extension "The Great Suspender" - it was superior in that it could be customized to suspend everything EXCEPT websites which had forms you were filling out, or replies you were writing. You could even customize the amount of time the extension would wait before suspending a tab (update: you can do that on this one as well). I WANTED to give this extension a good review, but that was before I opened a new tab to look up a word and went back to the youtube comment I had spent the last hour crafting only to find that the page had been suspended and everything was gone when I hit refresh. I perused the extension settings and found it woefully uncustomizable. While you can select it to work on 'certain sites only,' you cannot apply exclusions which would be the more obvious benefit and utility. The Great Suspender even saved your old sessions so if your computer crashed due to tab overload or blue screen of death or random windows update, you could reinitialize the entire session if you wanted. What I like: It works and best of all, the website icon remains on the top of the tab even after the page has been suspended so you can be more sure about clicking into the correct tab. UPDATE: So I had trouble getting this extension to activate on other windows and so I rebooted chrome. Lo and behold, only 3 of my 30+ windows actually came back. This extension clearly somehow messed with my startup sequence and I had to spend ages getting all my sessions back. In fact, restoring just one window took 200 times longer than usual - the extension is clearly interfering with load times. I've never had chrome freeze up so bad or be unresponsive so long with only 3 windows open while restoring a fourth. I couldn't even click the menu to restore any of the other windows for a full 5 minutes. Also, despite setting the extension to suspend all tabs after 1 minute, ten minutes later, only two windows have been suspended - the other half have not. The tabs are nearly unresponsive. This extension purports to reduce RAM usage, but I have 4 windows open and it's using 94% of my ram when before, having all 30+ windows and nearly 3000 tabs open before only used 73%. Ridiculous. Also, the one pro I included above now no longer exists. Since the reboot, suspended tabs lose their icon and all feature the tab suspension icon across the board. I'm removing one star and uninstalling. I removed an additional star for the obsene ram usage. I thought it would calm down after the initial launch, but that number is holding. Also, because this extension has rendered my chrome browser nearly unusuable as it is so frozen I can't justify more than one star. I'd choose zero if I could. UPDATE: I can't even restore my windows with this extension in play. It takes way too long after restoring the previous window before I have access to the chrome menu to get to the "HISTORY" settings to restore the next one. Ram at 98%, 27 more window restores to go, 36 minutes in. I'm seriously upset.
