Pretty much every 1-star review listed here is followed up with evidence that the poster clearly doesn't understand how a crypto wallet or Ethereum works: - Gas (fees on Ethereum) are 100% outside the control of Coinbase... please stop blaming them for this, and research before sending funds if you want to be better prepared. - Those reporting losing a lot of money: Always test with a few bucks before you send any amount you'd be upset to lose, to make sure everything is set up properly first. That applies to ANY new wallet you use. (keep reading) - Self-custody wallets (in general) store the KEYS to your funds... not the funds themselves. Your seed phrase is what "seeds" all of the keys and accounts you create under that phrase, and follows a standard known as BIP-32 and BIP-39 which almost every wallet out there also uses. Look these up and learn about them. Learn how actual crypto wallets work. Coinbase has zero access to your keys here, and you should absolutely understand that before sending ANY funds to ANY self-custody wallet. If you're not seeing funds, check a block explorer like Etherscan to see if you have funds at your address to begin with, and if you do, then you haven't lost funds as long as you have the seed phrase... You can troubleshoot further by entering this into another wallet like MetaMask, and if the balance shows up, it's likely to just be an issue retrieving and displaying your balance for some reason on the Coinbase Wallet extension side of things, rather than a publicly traded company stealing from you (which they aren't). - If you have a problem with taking self-custody over your funds, JUST USE AN EXCHANGE. Each carries risks (not your keys, not your crypto), but if you want hand-holding with your funds and aren't educated enough to handle your own, then this is not the path for you. - Those complaining about things that apply to ALL self-custody wallets, then suggesting to use MetaMask instead... this makes no sense. They're very similar in terms of key management, security, risks, and workflow. - And to those taking screenshots of their setup process and seed phrases, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS. Your seed phrase gives god-mode access to your funds, and should be backed up OFFLINE only and should NEVER be shared with anyone, not even Coinbase. And as far as Coinbase is concerned -- I don't love centralized exchanges in general, but Coinbase is at least offering a self-custody option, which allows people (who educate themselves first) to take control over their funds. I don't see other centralized exchanges offering this, and at this stage in the game we need MORE competitors for MetaMask, not less, to continue to drive innovation forward. 4-stars for a good start, but would love to see network switching (and custom RPC endpoints), and open-source code.
After clicking on Accept on the Mobile App for a linked account (browser linked to mobile app) the confirm dialog always spins without loading fee information. Unable to transact
It's the only option to use the coinbase wallet on an explorer. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt (specially when you reconnect and the app won't pull the transaction approval). In mobile it is easy to change networks but you can't do it in the extension, it is such a pain in the neck. Also, my NFT balance won't update after months. In sum: it sucks but i can't be bothered to import my key to metamask and deal with their issues
Really having trouble between the web extension and getting the approvals to pop-up in mobile. Also, big problems when switching networks.
Awful App. Worked fine yesterday, but today it wont let me login keeps saying my password is wrong - IT IS NOT WRONG, complete waste of time
Coinbase site doesn't sell a coin but says it can be bought using their wallet. From the get go, you install the app, but cannot see what the app can do, it just tells you to deposit funds. Common trick with all these exchanges/apps fraudsters, jump through hoops to get money in, only to find it doesn't even do what you want, theres a surprise hold on your funds for days, or only possible if you jump through more hoops and absurd fees. In this day and age everything is the way it is on purpose. These people and things they do are a detriment to crypto reputation and acceptance.
I Agree with jmaknplayz who posted on Nov 12, 2021. CB Wallet is not safe. I stored my coins in CB Wallet and tracked their value for several weeks, then...some of them (20 percent) just disappeared without notice or any perceptible trace. Coinbase Customer Service didn't care and was of no help ... other than to tell me to call the FBI.
Worse application you will ever use. I transferred funds from Coinbase account to Coinbase Wallet. I was hacked and they took all of my money from my Coinbase Wallet. Coinbase blamed me for giving my Recovery Phrase to someone but I did not. Then, they said someone must of hacked my email to contact them. Coinbase is doing nothing more than abusing an unregulated market. I will never trust Coinbase and I recommend you use a hard wallet or a different exchange.
