Awesome—it solved my issue, and TubeLens handled my video analysis problem.
Great and all does what it says on the tin. However I have since found the tweaks for youtube extension does this and much more without having to have seperate extensions.
I set it to auto quality 1440p, but when I restart browser it reverts to 1080p. Any fix for that? Latest stable Chrome.

The extension is extremely useful; however, it doesn't specify or indicate that it injects adware into the browser's code. This means that if you browse the web without an ad blocker, you'll either see ads or be redirected to unwanted sites, potentially exposing you to phishing attempts. It contains adware from a company called Phoenix Invicta, which operates in the ad-tech sector. It's not inherently malicious, but we don't know if it might become a risk in the future.
Same issue as another reviewer: "This Chrome extenstion "Auto Quality for YouTube" has a popup that redirects to a page url website: www.megaxt.com and my Malwarebyte browser guard detects it as a trojan." I had cleared out the malware and this extension popped back up attempting to re-install itself and pointed towards that infected website.
It works good for me. My only complaint is it will at random reset itself to 1080p. If they could fix that bug, that would fill that last star up.
it was perfect, but it stopped working as of recently, please fix!
Hasn't worked for years, sadly. I have to constantly set videos to 1440p manually. Someone should really update and fix this extension and save us from google's bull.
not working automatically, have to open plugin a select desired quality often.
