So, I've been trying to find a way to do DnD with my friends effectively over distance for about 2 years now. We've managed to convert our campaign into mostly theatre of the mind, and true role-play with the absence of a board and tokens, but it obviously doesn't feel quite right. I can't wait to show them how our game is about to return to our fondest memories. The team that works on this is fantastically helpful and responsive, the tools that are available are incredibly well integrated into D&D Beyond, and the UI is intuitive and USEFUL. There are occassionally products and people that come along in your life that you have to have. This is one of those situations. If you are using DnD Beyond, and need a solution to run your game at distance, or have any need for a virtual tabletop set up, then you can stop searching. This is it.
AboveVTT is amazing! I am still in the process of setting up one of my campaigns to move it from Roll20 and I have yet to run into anything that it doesn't do that I need it to. Very excited to see what is ahead. It makes everything so much easier and so much faster switching from map to map.
Amazing, does all the things I need, does them well, and no extra complications to slow the game down. Should be the official VTT.
just started, but if you use DNDbeyond, this looks like a cracking option for a VTT
Literally the biggest thing missing from DnDBeyond is a VTT. Literal Genius. Thank you!
AboveVTT is a really good alternative to Roll20 and is, opposed to Roll20, fully integrated into DND Beyond. You basically play inside of DND Beyond. Drawbacks? Yes: dynamic lights are not integrated and fog is a bit cumbersome. But hey... it's free and you can use all of your maps from DND sourcebooks purchased on DND Beyond without buying them again on Roll20 ;) tl;dr: give it a try! And if you like it, consider becoming a Patreon!
Just give it a try, it's free and its easy
So awesome, as someone who uses DNDB as the main source for VTT, finally having a map extension is a life SAVER
Totally blown away! Keep up the good work!!!
Prepare to be impressed. If you have content in DDB, and want an easy, quick way to get into a campaign with friends, AboveVTT is amazing. DM Setup is quick, play is intuitive on both sides of the screen and THEY EVEN HAVE AN INTEGRATED VIDEOCHAT? Like, what? Best of all, the devs are super friendly and available in the Discord. Like anything in development and whose code is dependent upon the code of others, there can be hiccups at times but a message or two in the Discord gets them solved, usually before our next weekly session! I'd like to see you get that level of customer service someone else. =-) AboveVTT is clearly a labor of love and, honestly, addresses the worst parts of other VTTs for me and my group. And it's free. What's the worst that happens? You lose a few minutes having your mind blown?
