TokenScope is a lightweight Chrome extension that displays your current token usage and remaining context window directly inside the ChatGPT web UI.

Features:

- Live Token Counter: See how many tokens you've used and how many are left, right above the ChatGPT message input.

- Accurate Tokenization: Uses OpenAI's official tokenizer for precise token counting that exactly matches the ChatGPT API.

- Automatic Model Detection: Instantly detects which ChatGPT model you're using (including GPT-4o, GPT-4o with scheduled tasks, GPT-4.5, GPT-4o Mini, o3, o4-mini, and o4-mini-high) and adjusts the counter accordingly.

Far from accurate, I have a plus sub, and it says i have only used 9600 tokens, ± 3000 or so. the number fluctuates wildly, sometimes only showing 50-100 used. Despite this, the conversation in question is locked out from having used too many tokens. The token threshold for conversation lockouts used to be 128k. so i know something's definitely off with the counter.
