Uh oh. It was working much better until a few days ago. I guess there has been a youtube update. It is more aggressively telling me that adblockers are not allowed. It still works for the most part, but now instead of playing the video right away, we are seeing several seconds of black screen where youtube loads its ads, like it is being hung up with new code for the timeouts. It is still automatic though. Hopefully the dev figures out how to get around youtube's latest shenanigans. I use youtube a lot but it is unwatchable to me when there are ads before videos.

ютуб недавно начал ругаться на классический эдблок, пришлось отключить его для ютуба и поставить это расширение. блокирует 5+секундную рекламу, но оставляет маленький баннер с рекламой справа вверху при просмотре ролика (впрочем, я его даже не замечаю, главное что 5+секундная блокируется).

It does show me 1sec of the ad, but it works
It's not perfect, but so far it's the only adblocker I've tried that isn't being detected by Youtube. They finally cut me off a few days ago and forced me to disable my old adblockers in order to watch videos. It does interrupt the video for a split second when Youtube attempts to serve an ad. It also doesn't block the banner ads, but those aren't that annoying, and I can manually block those with popup blocker.
The screen now got black and wait till the ads end - extension needs to be improved. Extension also needs "Read and change all your data on all websites"? Fortunately after installation it is possible to change it at chrome://extensions/?id=jpefmbpcbebpjpmelobfakahfdcgcmkl Site access -> enter specific site https://www.youtube.com and extension works fine with that. Protect your privacy!
