We’re grateful for your feedback—we've listened and will be updating and bringing back the on-page debugging experience. More exciting features are on the way.

Tag Assistant helps you install and troubleshoot your Google tags, including Google Analytics, Google Ads, Tag Manager and more. When clicked, the extension displays the Google tags found on the page in a side-panel. Just navigate to any page, and Tag Assistant will tell you which tags are present. We will be adding additional diagnostics in the near future.

The “Troubleshoot” button activates our debug mode using tagassistant.google.com. This advanced tool allows you to debug your website, including iframes, within a single session, providing detailed diagnostics to help you validate, diagnose, and resolve your implementation. Session data is available for review on tagassistant.google.com.

COMING SOON: Step-by-step guidance to install tags on popular website builders.

It says my website has so many errors, but when I see the relevant 'help' page, the documentation says to ignore the error as things have changed. Please update the chrome extension to report proper errors.

It used to be amazing back when it output the debug data to the Console. Now it in theory outputs debug data to a special report, BUT: 1. Debug is off by default 2. If I try to turn it on, it immediately turns back off. The main reason I use this is to fix cross-domain tracking issues and you can longer do it with this extension since the update because you cannot get the clientId parameter. Also, as people have noted, it doesn't seem to work with GTM. Even though on one domain I'm loading analytics.js with GTM and on the other I load it directly, it says that I have different libaries. It used to be amazing, like a microscope into your GA implementation. Now it's useless. The other thing that sucks about losing the Console output is that you used to be able to write your own Javascript in the Console that would test for or manipulate the variables. Now since this doesn't output to Console at all, even when it works right, it's got less utility. This seems to be an attempt to dumb it down for people who don't know how to access the Console, but in the process, they totally broke the plugin. I wish I could get the old one back!

Potentially extremely useful; but its out of date and you have to dig through other outdated google pages to reconcile the problems it finds.

Please align the Tag Assistant with Google Tag Manager. There's a know impedance since last year where tag assistant says "Invalid or missing account ID" while everything is actually OK. That's a horrible false positive. This explains my issue https://plus.google.com/u/0/+SimoAhava/posts/WVSWfxpjScj?sfc=true (sorry for the 1 star, it's the only way I think I can reach out about this)
