Control Panel for Twitter is a browser extension for Twitter - its main goals are to reduce the amount of algorithmic content you see, give you more control over your timeline and make the UI less distracting.

By default, your Home timeline will be the reverse-chronological "Following" timeline, which will only contain tweets and quote tweets from the people you follow. The algorithmic "For you" timeline will be hidden, and Control Panel for Twitter will keep you on "Following" if Twitter tries to automatically take you off it. Everything is configurable, so start by opening the options popup and customizing to your liking. Changes you make in the options will be applied immediately.

Features:

Home timeline

• Use the "Following" (chronological) timeline by default

• Hide the "For you" (algorithmic) timeline

Absolutely needed in a time as right now with the excessive actions of the media to push "see what's happening" in your face without an option to not be interested, this was a much needed Chrome extension as I can enjoy the simple view without all the clutter!

This has been the extension I've needed for twitter. Ever since the 'new' timeline came out a few years ago I've hated using twitter web, and the forced font change made it unusable. Thank you for this, it was desperately needed!

Lots of quality of life tweaks available for vastly improved experience. Seems to break sometimes due to Twitter changing stuff, but the extension gets regularly updated with fixes and new features. Definitely recommend.

This extension helped me break my compulsive Twitter addiction. When you remove all the distracting parts (for me that was Trending Topics) Twitter becomes a different experience. I only see stuff from people I follow and I'm very selective about who I follow.

Together with a youtube reccomendation remover plugin, its made my browsing so much more relaxed. Now that I fully stoppped keeping up with twitter, I use it to check out artists. So then I end up enabling the entire sidebar because its the only way to acces the "media" section.

This needs to get popular ASAP. I finally got rid of the "Who to follow" right in the middle of my timeline!

Honestly so surprised there are not more reviews for this addon. It seems great, fixed all the issues I had with twitter, i mean, besides the toxic people, but whatever. yeah after about a year of using twitter actively, (ive had an account just to follow a few people and giveaways and such) for crypto, they decided today I was going to be bombarded with suggested content and topics, tweets from people I dont follow, and just generally making it impossible to keep up with what is happening. I had heard of this being an issue, but I had not seen it until now. I do remember that they try and turn your timeline back to the annoying one no matter what you do. so this app was a necessary change. seems to work perfectly, all my gripes gone, twitter feed is clean and readable again. It has nice customization options as well. Hard recommend from me. Don't know how anyone uses twitter without it!

I'm still giving this a 5 because the extension has many useful features. However the 7/21/21 update seems to have broken some of the features for me. Most notably the very annoying "messages" popup is now back again. I turned it on and off, reinstalled, etc. with same results. Can that be fixed? Thank you. EDIT ... Fixed, thank you.

Great extension for someone who cares only about a very few specific things and is only annoyed by "what's happening" constantly hanging around. "Hide new tweets when linked to a tweet" doesn't seem to work, but that's my only issue (and pretty minor at that).
