This extension monitors your browser for you and automatically organizes tabs that haven't been used for a long time into an "Inactive group." All you have to do is decide in the settings "how many days (weeks/months) of inactivity trigger the cleanup."
It doesn't completely close old tabs, so there's no need to worry about the "I might need it later" fear. You can open the group whenever needed and access your original tabs at any time.
