It will help you optimize your video viewing by allowing you to make quick playback speed adjustments, as well as rewind the video to hear the last few second one more time. We don't read at a constant speed, and we talk much slower than we read - there is no reason why we have to listen at a constant speed and at a (very) slow rate.
Once the extension is installed simply navigate to any page that offers HTML5 video, and you'll see a speed indicator in top left corner of the video player. Hover over the indicator to reveal the controls to accelerate, slowdown, or rewind the video (10 seconds + lowers playback speed). Or, even better, use your keyboard:
- S - decrease playback speed.
- D - increase playback speed.
- R - reset playback speed.

Just edited my 5-star rating. Since lastest major update the extension stopped working properly. The controller will show each time at a different place, sometimes it doesn't show at all, it won't work on all videos (eg. in reddit the controller appears outside video and doesn't work at all)... I wish I could downgrade a few versions, it used to work flawlessly.
Love it. The keybinds for changing video speed are especially convenient.
Great extension. Suggestion: add the ability to go slower than 0.07x... maybe 0.01x so we can view a 60 fps video frame by frame (when trying to analyze something or catch something).
Simple. Open Source. Works like a charm.
16x is FANTASTIC for Hulu ads.
"This extension may have been corrupted." << I get this about once every 2 weeks. Repairing it wipes all my settings :/ Life changing! "S" to decrease. "D" to increase. I change the step to 0.25 and preferred to 1.5 :) (edit: now preferred 2.0)
Super util extension, por favor añadir la opcion de acelerar sitios de podcast, seria sensacional para las webs que no tienen la opcion de velocidad. Muchas gracias!
