ActiveInbox for Gmail is the must-have extension not only for GTD-afficionados but also for anyone who likes to have some control over the email inbox. This is a massive labour of love (and programming virtuosity!) from the part of the developers, and it shows - simple, beautiful and powerful.
I've not yet made it to "inbox zero" but this has certainly helped me manage my email better than I was doing by myself. I used the free version for a long time, but I recently upgraded to a paid subscription as it provides quite a bit of value. As to the person who complained about the lack of support, I'm not sure they were talking about this product. The support has been great, and they are very responsive. If you are looking for a better way to manage your daily influx of email, you should definitely give this a try. And also take a look at the setup instructions as they are there for a reason. ;)
I don't think I could go back to "plain old" Gmail without ActiveInbox. This product has made my email management so much easier; even if some days I don't make it to Inbox Zero, it takes my use (and abuse) and keeps me organized. The ability to schedule emails as tasks (and keep them hidden until appropriate), the views that let me focus on a related set of tasks, and the ability to save notes and checklists with individual emails are the features I use most. Tech support is responsive and the user community is great. I can't say enough good things about it!
GTD for GMail at its best. Browser dependent so I can use it in my desktop/laptop/netbook both in Windows and several flavors of Linux. Most useful extension I've ever come across.
This has made my email management so much better. I constantly get an empowered feeling while powering through my inbox and keeping track of projects. If your inbox is a mess or you try to practice GTD, ActiveInbox is for you!

This app nails it! Finally, a perfect project management (todo) solution that works extremely well with gmail. Been waiting for something like this for many years!
nice, but for my purpose too much complicated
This is very good when it works but unfortunately it has a habit of stopping working. I have been without it for two weeks now and as I rely on it this makes life very difficult so I have dumped it and started using Google Inbox which is not as good but at least works This is a fantastic Chrome Extension and I couldn't manage without it. If I could only keep one Extension this would be it. Friends often ask me to help sort out their email problems and when I look at they accounts I find many thousands of emails. No wonder they can't find anything. My inbox is always empty as I deal with all emails every day. I either delete them or set an ActiveInBox reminder and archive them. ActiveInBox then brings them forward when I need to deal with them. Running a business I find that I have to resend emails to prospective customers many times as frequently they fail to rely. So every time I send out an email I set a reminder in ActiveInBox which brings the email forward again after about a week. This works like magic and I am known to be always on the ball.
