Hover your mouse over any image on the supported websites and the extension will automatically enlarge the image to its full size, making sure that it still fits into the browser window.
This is an open source version of the original HoverZoom extension which is now overrun by malware and deleted from store. In this version all spyware has been removed, many bugs were fixed and new features were added. It doesn't collect any statistics by default. The only permission it needs is to access data on all websites (to extract full images), and *optional* permissions to access browser history, download/save images or get tab urls for per-site configuration.
Sometimes sites change design and when it happens extension needs to be updated. Please report any issues with zoom not working by using Support tab or https://github.com/extesy/hoverzoom/issues page.

Doesnt work smh
I used it for a long time and thought it was great, but recently was getting constant ADVERTISING REDIRECTS in Chrome (something called "xfreeservice")––redirecting every URL from a Google search to full page ads for tons of different things. Nothing I could find to remove this ... until I DISABLED HOVER ZOOM+. Scummy add-on.
This extension is a miracle! I can't believe I've been surfing the web for years without such a simple but life changing tool. No more 'open in new tab' just to get an idea of what an image is.
DO. NOT. GET. This extension hijacked my browser-- I never consented to having spyware on my computer, obviously. It just took me over 2 hours to figure out which extension in Chrome was messing with my default browser. Sure, it's nice to zoom in on photos if you are blind as a bat like I am, but it is not worth it. Really freaks me out....

Very good functioning app that has all u need makes browsing the internet even better.
Many of the images only shows them in their real size and does not zoom. In the miniatures, it shows them as small, so it is not useful in that sense.
Only complaint is that when it comes to Reddit videos/GIFs/pictures, it doesn't work well. Videos and GIFs seem to show up super small, and pictures sometimes doesn't show up. Will re-rate 5/5 if fixed.
This extention is great, but lately it quit working when viewing gifs and videos on Reddit. Hopefully there will be an update soon to fix it, and I'll up my rating to a 5*.
