Relieve eye-strain from the default Google Docs experience with DocsAfterDark. Customize the look of your documents without modifying the original file.
DocsAfterDark features a modern, sleek dark mode and a vibrant light mode. Try out the "midnight" dark mode variant for true-black backgrounds. Accent colors shared by both modes can be customized using the color slider in the settings popup.
Customize the document background to a darker (or lighter) shade. Or, input your own custom CSS (background-color) color.
Choose between the colorful, grayscale, and black invert modes to render document content in dark mode. The colorful invert mode preserves the essence of colors, but note that the colors will not be exact to the original document.
Globally enable/disable the extension, change to dark/light mode, and access all of the above customizations in the settings popup, which can be opened by clicking on the extension’s icon in your browser’s toolbar.
Temporarily enable/disable the extension for the current document using the toggle button in the bottom left corner of the page.

It works making anything white dark, but it turns all of the emojis and highlighted texts in the documents I'm using this extension on into greyscale colors. The description of the extension says there's settings to change this, but I cannot find a link to extension settings in my browser's extension details page, and left clicking on the icon in my browser's extension toolbar literally does nothing. I was able to find a pop-up in my browser's extension menu after exiting and reopening it twice that allowed me to turn off greyscale and inversion, but it made the page of the document white while everything around it stayed black, somewhat defeating the purpose of why I downloaded the extension. Attempting to get the link to the extension settings to reappear has so far been unsuccessful -- if I do succeed, I'm not sure if I can update reviews, but if I can I'll try to figure out what allows me to access the settings more than once. Edit: about a minute after posting this review, I've found that the settings appear from the toolbar extension's icon, but not on Google Docs itself...on this page and the extensions page (not from the extension page's settings, from the toolbar icon) only? Secondary edit a few minutes after the first: Since I can access the settings now, I see that my Google Docs page is white because that's the default setting, and it has nothing to do with the inverted or greyscale toggles. Unfortunately, none of the settings for changing its color work -- I wait for it to change after returning to one of my Google Docs tabs just for it to remain white, and refreshing does nothing. I will be patient and see if a fix for this comes out, because the overall darkness is a major relief to my eyes.

I use a lot of pictures and color in my document so suffice to say I can't use this :( Every color will be changed into grayscale, other than that this is so far the best dark mode extension for Google Docs.
I love this! It makes using google docs wayy easier and doesnt block any of the uis. The only flaw to this is that when you try to color the texts, it makes it a darker grey rather than the color. But when you turn off greyscale, you can color it but the colors will be inverted. Still the best extension I have ever downloaded and I'm glad that I found this! I totally recommend this if you are working on projects for school, work, or if you're an author/writer on google docs.

This is the best dark mode Google Docs extension out there! However, I'm not sure how to operate the custom color page when you want to in put CSS code. I still love this extension anyway though, haha.
Better than other options for dark mode in google docs. Unfortunately colored text will be a shade of gray instead of colored, and since I use colorcoding in many of my documents, this extension is not for me.
Best dark mode extension for Google Docs I could find. Hoping for Google Sheets support soon!
