"Audio only youtube" chrome extension enables you to disable only video on youtube which saves internet usage more than 50% when you want to listen songs on youtube.
**Note: It doesn't support Youtube Live Videos.**
You can enable/disable it by just clicking on the icon shown in the extension bar.

Seems they fixed it. It works by blocking video from streaming other add-ons just hide the video
RIP. It doesn't work any more. It's was working for me for about 5 years and I love it. I hope the developer fix it soon again.
only worked briefly now doesn't work no matter what
Stopped working. Worked fine like a week ago. It makes me sad since you did a good job with this extension blocking the request of the video (or something). Alternative is Music Mode for YouTube and it sets video quality to 360 and shows image instead of video... kinda lame. Same effect I can get setting low quality and minimizing the browser (this way it's not rendered). Interestingly, on embedded youtube on other site it works. Idk why but it's back to work.
Excellent until last Chrome update. Now it is not working anymore, could you kindly update? By the way, thanks for updating it on dec/2023! However it is not working again on feb/24.

Fonctionne bien. Voyant toujours le sélecteur de qualité je pensais que l'extension n'était qu'une façade, mais un petit tour dans le gestionnaire des tâches m'a permis de confirmé que BEAUCOUP moins d'internet descendant est utilisé, pratique pour l'écologie et les petites connexion. Attention cependant, il semblerait que le choix de la qualité vidéo ait tout de même une influence sur la qualité audio reçu, évitez donc les 240/144p si vous voulez une meilleure qualité audio.

I find it less distracting as I work. I basically does what it says. once in a while it doesn't but not often. this is the first time I've seen it totally fail.
Yup still not working as of 11 Feb 2024
