Pros: 1. GT Translates pages almost instantly! 2. Translation from Russian to English is amazingly excellent and accurate for the 'dry' writing style found in textbooks and scholarly articles. German to English translations of similar texts are not quite as good due to certain German linguistic characteristics, but still very useful. Hungarian needs improvement. Fiction, internet forums, or informally written texts do not translate as well no matter what language it is. Generally speaking GT is awesome, and I love it. Thank you for providing it. However... Cons: 1. The amount of text that can be translated at one time is too small for lengthy online articles. This limit should be doubled or tripled. 2. The large white box containing the original text CONSTANTLY pops-up and prevents me doing things like clicking on links or selecting translated text. This pop-up box is EXTREMELY irritating, and cannot be disabled, it seems. Please modify it or just get RID of it! Instead, simply display original on one side and the translation on the other, or have GT open an additional window displaying the translated web page. 3. Same with the drop-down bar along the top. Why does it exist anyway? To alert us to the fact that the website we're reading is not in our own language and can't be understood unless we translate it?? 4. The language detection ability and GT's functionality in general becomes useless if a web site has text in more than one language. GT MUST add a select-and-translate-text function, as so many users have requested, and other free translators have. 4. GT will only translate one 'first' frame of a website, and ignore the remainder. This first frame is typically either the site's title or its menu/site map. There are fairly easy workarounds, but really, this is just sloppy programming on GT's part. Ever since GT first opened the way for free internet translation a few years ago, they seem to have gotten lazier and lazier about improving it. C'mon, folks!! Sean
