Also known as "BTTV" or "Better Twitch TV" by the community, BetterTTV aims to add new features to Twitch and YouTube (in beta).

Here's some of the features we add:

• Extra emotes in chat - BetterTTV global and per-channel custom emotes

• Improved emote menu

• Custom keywords targeting phrases, words, users, and chat badges

• Split chat lines for easy reading

As many of the other reviewers mentioned, they removed a ton of good features. I'm actively preventing my BTTV from updating on Firefox so I don't lose them. Most of all, I can no longer click on a mod deleted message to see what it said. There are about half the available options in 7.1.0 as there are in 7.0.28

Dark background is the biggest thing i need this for, but extra things like: emote menu, hide bits, gifs etc makes it even better. I wish i found this earlier so i could have had chance with cool glowing name :D

Great add-on, but it's way too difficult to remember how to make the emotes show up. I have to continously toggle all the settings whenever I need to clear my cache to remember how I activated it last time. Apparently just toggling it on within the add-on on twitch does not work.
