This extension makes it easy to temporarily disable power management on Chrome OS.
It adds an icon in the upper-right corner of the browser that can be clicked to switch between modes where the screen is kept on (sun icon), the system is prevented from sleeping (sunset), or power-saving settings are left unchanged (moon).

* Will this extension prevent a Chromebook from suspending when its lid is closed?
No, but if an external display is connected, recent versions of Chrome OS will remain awake when the lid is closed.

Something like this should be a basic feature in Chrome. I feel the icons are a kind of ugly, but hardly something to complain too much about.
This extension works GREAT on my Chromebook. Keep up the good work!
That application is great, it helped me a lot. Many more people should know about it, until the chromebook team does something about the matter.. Thanks and keep it up!
Fixes the only real problem with Chromebooks. Does what it needs to do. --edit Don't know what happened, but since last week it causes random reboots while streaming videos.
I have an early version of the Chromebook, and keeping it awake while using HDMI hooked to my TV (playing web-based slideshows, Google Music, etc) was my only real issue with it. This extension fixed the problem. I can now play music through my home theater without the Chromebook falling asleep. I have done this multiple times since downloading the extension without issue. Thanks! edit: I always toggle the extension after logging in based on what others have said in the comments. It works fine when doing that.
In version 1.4, if I've previously toggled the icon to "keep awake" mode, then shut down and restart the Chromebook (Samsung or Acer), the icon indicates "Screen will be kept on", but it still goes to sleep after being idle for a few minutes. If I toggle the icon off and on again, it works properly.

The new extension icon makes it much easier to use. Would recommend it to anyone who wishes to remove the annoyingly short sleep mode.
Doesn't work with Samsung Series 3 Chromebook. Signs out to log in screen after 10 minutes.
