Mendeley Web Importer detects article identifiers on the page you are viewing and automatically retrieves metadata and PDF full texts (where available) for you to add to your library. You just need to be viewing an article or a list of references in the browser and click on the Mendeley Web Importer extension icon in the toolbar.
You'll need a Mendeley account to save, read and cite the articles you import. To sign up and receive 2GB free storage space, visit https://www.mendeley.com

Great when it works, which is unfortunately quite rare
I have been facing the same problem as many other users reported below "I can't login to the web importer". I have tried the following solution proposed in step 4 for Chrome users: https://service.elsevier.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29165/ This resolved my issue. I could login under incognito view which means other Chrome extensions were blocking me from properly logging in to my Mendeley account. I hope this helps other users.

clicking the add-on simply opens a tiny tab that loads for half a second then closes. worthless right now was so much better before please fix this asap!!!!
Please return our old Mendeley version. Now I cannot access to the Mendeley libraries. Its too hard for us as student to use now.
Not working. When I click the extension on my chrome, it opens Mendeley and closes without giving any options to select libraries.
Doesn't work at all. Opens a log in pop-up, closes and then does nothing.
Sometimes it work, but most of the times it doesn't
Cannot utilize this extension to build my library.. what went wrong?? Funny.
