High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Care for your eyes. Easy change Text color, background color for browser. Relax and Protect your eye
Demonstrates the chrome.fontSettings API by allowing users to modify the style of displayed fonts on web pages.
Right-click on anything with a "longdesc" or "aria-describedat" attribute to access its long description.
Browse the text of web pages using arrow keys.
Switch to night mode and the display is much easier on your eyes!
A customisable colour filter applied to web pages to improve colour perception.
Very nice extension for night browsing but it adds contrast to photos and videos. Please fix it or make it opptional
Plenty of setting for how to deal with images, etc. Don't listen to the 1-stars, they didn't explore what the extension can actually do.
Good extension. Only one problem, there is a conflict with Facebook and some other sites. I imagine it is the CSS that is being screwed up.
The only think I would suggest is, the inverting process should occur as soon as each element is loaded onto the page as opposed to waiting for page to load then inverting - this causes page to flash between normal and inverted colours and it hurts the eyes. Also when you load a new page, after the current/old page is destroyed and before the new page is loaded, Chrome uses a White blank screen. Is there a way to override this to a darker colour? This causes significant screen flashing when loading new pages.
Simple and effective. Easy to switch on and off with hotkeys. It's an eye-saver!
I'm on chromium Version 25.0.1364.160, the extension is extremely buggy, all sorts of weird stuff even browsing a static page like a wikipedia article... The high-contrast/inverted color/grayscale filters themselves I liked a lot, so its a shame that the software works so bad.
Great extension! Perfect results with Chrome 26. So much of the web has gone from clear and bright to pale and unreadable. The worst is the gray-on-gray style (as seen on the google web store). This is just what I wanted to make life easier. I like being able to access the color controls without roaming through the Chrome settings, too. The developer even gives us a keyboard shortcut! Wow! Thanks a lot for your good work!
this extension was something i was looking forward to having, as i am a night owl that reads/watches videos on my computer late into the night. the problem with this extension is that it is very buggy, and will sometimes not work on certain tabs, or will suddenly change color schemes. additionally, i have a retina display, and it seems that the contrast is done at a lower resolution. they also need to somehow exempt video from the contrast (who wants to see their video inverted in color?). please improve this.
IMO it would be more accurate to call this extension "invert colors" instead of "high contrast". That being said I use it a bit and it works well enough, except on Facebook...It seems to be broken on Facebook.
Great for lessening eye strain. Highly recommended.
