High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

It is a useful ext. One feature to add to make more efficient which is to be able to select on which area type (div type, image, text, audio, ..) to apply the selected high contrast settings. To make it more clear, mostly it is needed for the text/empty content with white background while for areas with images and Videos content it might be OK to display them as they are without any contrast.
I find greyscale to be easy on the eyes.
Only problem is it makes images disappear in Google Docs, so if you're using it as a writer to reduce eye strain, be aware you won't be able to see the images, just the space where the image is while it is active..
Although it is easy to change colors, I would like the pictures to stay natural color.

loved having the pages and icons dark, but not the black and white inverted images/ pictures.

Top, es tut was es soll. Für die Leute, die nicht wissen, wie man die normale Anzeige wieder herstellen kann: Entweder deinstalliert das Tool, oder schaut euch mal einfach das Menu an, wenn ihr auf das Icon klickt. Alternativ (ctrl + shift + f11 [for win]) oder (cmd + shift + f11 [for mac]) deaktiviert das Plugin. Man kann auch für jede Seite separat das Tool aktivieren bzw. deaktivieren, dann einfach statt wie oben genannt f11 die f12 Taste mitbenutzen. Ich finde das Tool super (bis ich vllt ein anderes besseres Tool finde), besonders, weil ich viel nachts arbeite und mir manche Seiten echt zu hell sind, trotz ganz runter geregeltem Display.
