I discovered this through Tab for a Cause, which I have been using for a long time. It is a great way to raise money for charity. I understand that it is still in beta, but it does need significant revisions. It does not have a calculator in the tab or in the search bar. It does not have definitions. It lacks the overview of articles/other websites. It activates in incognito, no matter what, and prevents the user from searching without logging in. I do not understand how this happens, especially given that I have disabled it in incognito and that this phenomenon does not occur with tab for a cause. Regardless of its flaws, I acknowledge that it is still in a stage of beta development and nobody should expect it to be perfect yet.
Sad it uses Bing, but good concept. Maybe add a search count on every search engine, probably a bubble that you can customize the position of, so you can put it anywhere.
I really like the idea but as a developer I cannot use this. Day to day when trying to find specific answers to technical questions, BING just doesn't cut the mustard. The results are just poor. In my personal life I may be able to abide bing, but since I work on my personal laptop I just can't have this app installed. Such a shame, please change over to Google search backend.
Great idea. I really want to get behind it, but Bing is holding me back. Bing is such an inferior search engine. If you can make it powered by Google then I'd be all aboard with 5 stars!
Great concept and I'm sticking with it for now (as a huge fan of Tab For a Cause). That being said, it lacks many of Google's features, such as a calculator in the search bar, conversions, translations, and (most importantly) definitions. Its presentation of information is also much less comprehensive than Google's. Overall, it's a great idea but is not the greatest as a search engine. Some polishing is necessary!
Thank you for this! I know this is powered by Bing but if it is for casual searches then this is better than nothing, right? Maybe I'll open another browser for important searches. Are we related to Ecosia because that is what I use for my phone? Tabs and searches for a cause, let's do it!
I love the idea, but the biggest downside is being powered by Bing. I still use it when getting accurate results quickly doesn't matter as much, but I'd love to be able to say I use it for all my searches. Other than Bing's issues, it works pretty well! I love the color scheme. ^^
Until Search for a Cause switches away from Bing and is more transparent about the donation percentages, I will be sticking with Ecosia which uses nearly all of its revenue to plant trees.
An extremely easy way to raise money for multiple different charities! Lovely program and incredible concept!
i love donating to charity's and i suggest it but i wish there was a couple more charity's :)
