Go back with the backspace button! This extension re-enables the backspace key as a back navigation button -- except if you're writing text.
What's New in 3.0:

* Updated to Manifest V3.
Before Chrome 52, the backspace key navigated back (if you weren't writing text). Many people lost their progress while working online by accidentally pressing backspace and leaving a page -- so we removed the feature from Chrome, and created this extension for those who prefer the old behavior.
This extension can't restore backspace on certain special pages, for example any of the "chrome://" pages such as Settings or Extensions.

Well I'm glad i didn't have to use a third party extension.. My big question though is why not just a simple check box setting in Chrome settings between the "backspace" and whatever the other method they want to use is? Mainly I'm surprised Google has not implemented hotkey settings in Chrome. Maybe it will be for another day but thanks again I'm a backspace kind of person, never had any issues with it. (It's called paying attention to what I'm doing) Thank You!
Are you freaking serious I got to get a FREAKING extension to utilize something that should an has been used as a basic keyboard function for decades. Totally ABSURD!

Thanks for fixing your own update. But it is stupid to have to install an extension for it. Make it the other way around. Install a extension if you want ALT+LEFT...
Se extrañaba mucho ésta función de retroceso, aunque no estoy de acuerdo que por unos pocos no tan diestros en el uso del computador, hayan eliminado la función por completo.
Sacrificing multi-decades muscle memory on the altar of newbies who can't use forms... wait what ? I do not thank you for bringing this extension, it should never have existed. But there is more of it ! This extension does not work as expected. You have to click anywhere in the page to enable the "back on backspace" possibility. You ruined my day, Google.
It took me far too long to realize that I didn't have something wrong with my computer. I guess that I just couldn't wrap my mind around the idea that someone would intentionally remove an extremely long standing shortcut. I am extremely unhappy with having to download an extension to have to correct an issue that shouldn't exist to begin with. I would also like to point out that when reading through the trouble shooting pages that pointed me to this extension it mentions that the backspace key was a rarely used shortcut. I am just wondering if you still consider it as such or if there has been enough hate directed at chrome for removing it that they might consider changing it back to default.
Should be included in the standard release, it's nuts that we have to install this to get basic functionality back
Schon ein schlechter Witz eine Funktion zu entfernen und diese dann via Plugin wieder anzubieten, warum überhaupt entfernen? Ne ne ne
终于可以愉快的按后退键了，虽然trackpad操作后退也很方便，但是真的很喜欢用按键后退啊！！！
