This eye-care extension enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colours to make web pages high contrast and easier to read.

Adjust brightness, contrast, the sepia filter, font preferences. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.

This is the original Dark Reader extension. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

He probado varias extensiones para modo oscuro, hasta ahora esta es la mejor y la que se adapta a más páginas. Los que dicen que ahora se tiene que pagar es porque no han revisado bien, pagar es opcional y lo puedes seguir usando gratuitamente. Mi única queja es que comparado a otras extensiones, puedes llegar a sentir el navegador un poquito lento si usas demasiadas ventanas pesadas abiertas, pero para mi uso está excelente.

Update September 2025 5-star review: Google Sheets display issues seem fixed. Going to use this extension again. Because, apart from the GS display issues I had, this Dark Reader works better than all the others I have tested in the past couple of months. Especially the automatic detection if a site is already a dark theme and therefore not inverting the colors is exceptional. May 2025 1-star review: I've been using this extension for a long time now and it helps me access websites that I otherwise couldn't. Unfortunately since today it doesn't work anymore with Google Sheets and causes severe display issues. Will have to look for another extension now if it doesn't get fixed soon because I use G Sheets a lot.
