Cool but i rly hate it that it's replacing normal search every time. For example when i want to navigate to a website it goes into search gpt mod. Pls add a setting where we can add a certain symbol we need to add in front of our search query to activate the extension. Make this setting optional. For example it would look like this !current btc price and if the user wants to use normal search current btc price

A very disappointing extension and big missed opportunity, especially since it is an official creation by OpenAI developers of ChatGPT. The extension essentially hijacks the browser so the search bar (Omnibox) redirects searches to ChatGPT, but the ChatGPT Search feature in its current state is not an appropriate direct replacement for Google Search. OpenAI should have created an extension that doesn't take over as the default search engine (since it really isn't a search engine). It should allow the user to choose when to use it for search/chat and present the results in a sidebar. More helpful still, would be if the extension could live in a ChatGPT sidebar that had access to whatever webpage was currently being viewed. The user could chat about the contents of the page. Right now, to accomplish this, the user has to upload screenshots of a page to the ChatGPT desktop app or website.

I agree with the reviews below: The UX isn't great. Opening a new chat for every search is annoying and clutters the chat history, making it harder to find important conversations.

GPT Search gives spot on results BUT it completely removes the option to search with a normal browser and when i just want to browse the internet I clog my history bar up, before I can even begin to browse I have to manually turn GPT Search off which in all honesty is becoming more annoying than its worth.
