View and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files - without needing Office installed on your computer.

Once the extension is installed, Office files that you drag into Chrome, open in Gmail, Google Drive and more will be opened in Docs, Sheets and Slides for viewing and editing.

You can save each file back to its original Office format or convert it to Docs, Sheets or Slides to unlock more features, like inviting others to edit with you, commenting, chatting and more.

Seems to be working fine now. Indeed, it even opens old Office Documents when using Microsoft's OneDrive, which doesn't seem to be compatible with old .xls files :-)))

Really Nice Work . 不会用就别喷好么? 直接从桌面把文档拖入浏览器就可以编辑, 先保存覆盖之前的文件. 然后实现及时编辑+自动保存. Understand???

Quite buggy. Mangles documents with complex layouts and unsupported features that Microsoft has. Sometimes opens the original Microsoft file for editing, sometimes converts to Google Doc/Sheets before opening. Great idea and will definitely use it when it works. PS. Google REALLY need to allow custom fonts to be used. Maybe choose from a Google Drive folder...

Does not work when loading docs from Google Drive. If you drag and drop a Word document onto a blank Chrome tab, then the extension will load the file. However, it is not 100% compatible with the Word formatting. It dropped out an entire text box. The conversion to Google Docs format was better than the so-called "native" format editing.
