AI 产品解读Classroom management web helper extension that extends LanSchool Student software capabilities in Chrome, enabling teacher-side monitoring and control of student browsing activity
Helps teachers maintain an effective learning environment by monitoring student web browsing, enforcing website filtering policies, blanking student screens during class, capturing screenshots for oversight, detecting banned words in student keystrokes, and managing browser tabs remotely
Extension runs passively on student devices. It connects to locally installed LanSchool Student software either via localhost HTTP requests (Windows) or Chrome extension messaging (Chromebook). The teacher controls student browsing through the LanSchool Teacher console. The web helper monitors URL changes, reports browsing history, enforces web filtering (blocking/allowing URLs per teacher policy), captures tab screenshots, blanks student screens on command, and detects banned words typed by students. If LanSchool Student software is not running, the extension becomes dormant and inactive.

- 目标用户
- Students in LanSchool-managed classrooms (extension installed on student Chromebooks/browsers)
- The extension is a companion to proprietary LanSchool Student software, so full end-to-end functionality cannot be tested without that infrastructure
- The ChromeAppsWhitelist (referenced at line 1600) contents are not visible in the source but determine which external extensions can communicate with this one
- LanSchool the commercial product may have paid licensing for schools, but that is external to the extension itself

No payment, subscription, billing, license, upgrade, premium, or feature-gating mechanisms exist anywhere in the extension source code. A grep for subscribe|premium|trial|license|upgrade|checkout|payment|stripe across all 32 text files returned zero matches. All keyword hits for 'pro' are false positives from locale strings ('product_name'), JavaScript built-ins (Promise, Promise.reject), property/prototype references, and copyright notices. The extension itself is a free companion helper for LanSchool classroom management software; while LanSchool as a product is commercially sold to schools, the extension contains no internal paid features.

- The extension does not implement any login UI or authentication flow. The 'studentLoginName' (background.js line 690) is extracted automatically from system context passed by LanSchool Student software—it is not a user authentication prompt. The extension operates passively: it monitors browsing, communicates with local LanSchool Student software via localhost HTTP and Chrome extension messaging, and becomes dormant when no LanSchool Student software is connected. No login credentials, OAuth, or account creation is required from the student user.
I love it!!!!!!!!
It sucks
This software is for IT and Teachers. This software is able to limit traffic speed, Limit Web Access, Blank, View and Read Keystrokes. This was a well built peace of software but it too much in the personal space! I'll have to type some more latter!!!
Please get this trash off my laptop. What is the purpose of giving us PERSONAL laptops that we can BRING HOME and TAKE CARE OF if we can't do anything with it but school work? I'm not gonna sit at home during the summer with this and have almost every website in existence blocked. This laptop will catch dust, seriously. LanSchool is just stupid I don't care why the teacher's need it. Most of my teacher's don't even use it so this serves no purpose...
dritt
it sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
worst app ever -------------
I can see that many people hate the extension due to it having the possibilities of allowing Teachers to stalk your activity on your computer, but it's actually for a pretty good cause... At School, you're supposed to be doing work, like Bman Gaming said in his review, "It's good because it catches the kids who don't do work and just play games." So far, I haven't ran into any problems with this, just because it's for my school laptop. If I wanted to do other things, I would use a personal home computer/laptop for that. This gets three stars, mainly because it's good for Teachers to keep an eye on students, but it's not higher just because of other people's problems with it. I won't necessarily run into this problem, but it might come up somewhere near the future.
I'm sure this extension had the best intentions, but you guys at Stoneware just handed teachers a way to make the classroom environment worse. I could fill this whole text box with complaints and calling you guys "Hitler" and whatnot. But being someone who finds ways to get around this crap for almost a living, I have to see this from both sides, teachers and students. We all know that teachers love this thing because it lets them see our screens and take control of it if we aren't doing our work. I say, if you're doing your work, then you have nothing to worry about. But being a student who has to put up with this thing, I can't stand it. I get that the teacher wants you to get work done, yeah, I get that. But there's a line between making sure students are productive, and just being plain creepy. Like, I once got in trouble for e-mailing a friend an ASCII middle finger. You know, one of these. ............... ..... .. /´¯/) .............. ......,/¯ ..// ............. ...../... ./ / ............ ./´¯/' ...'/´¯ ¯`·¸ ........../'/.../... ./... ..../¨¯\ ........('(...´(... ....... ,~/'...') .........\.......... ..... ..\/..../ ..........''...\.... ..... . _.·´ ............\....... ..... ..( ..............\..... ..... ...\ I got in trouble for e-mailing someone that and for someone on my personal e-mail account and it was during lunch. I'll be honest, this application has every right to exist, but it's existence has just been a nuisance on our work environment. I remember back when my school just started their 1-to-1 Laptop Initiative and there wasn't LanSchool on there at all. Even in the Admin folder. It was great, my teachers really enjoyed having them for that year, and so did the students. Until 7th grade. Kids were ready to throw those things at the teachers. I took things the non-violent way because violence is never the answer, and I found a dozen ways to shut it down. With all due respect, I, along with thousands of students, over a million to be exact, think this application is complete garbage. It's great for messing with the teachers though. I once swapped the teacher app with the student app on my teacher's computer and a bunch of my friends and I messed with her computer. A lot of them were yelling, "How do you like it?" and whatnot. I had a lot of fun doing that, and it makes for a great story, and it can even be a threat to other teachers. I don't condone screwing with teachers though. It can land you in some serious trouble, I almost got arrested. But that's not the point. My point is, this thing just puts what should be a stable work environment and makes it into a paranoia filled room with a bunch of kids wondering when the teacher will stop looking at her screen. Please consider taking your application down. Your little motto is complete garbage. "Helps your teacher maintain a great learning environment." Complete crap. It was great before your app came along.
It is really annoying when you cant use some websites during recess and lunch time
