Deprecated. Interferes with Hangouts on Chrome, so I keep it disabled unless I really need it. I wish Google would just be consistent and make all the features of GV/Hangouts available on all platforms. On PC/Chrome and iOS/iPhone/iPads, Hangouts works great, with dialpad, video calls, SMS, etc. But NOT on Google's own Android platforms!!!! Stupid and dumb!

This review may only interest users who need to record calls internationally for podcasts or other reasons. With that in mind... Google Voice on my iPhone (integrated with Sprint) or in a Chrome browser widget works well. It notifies me of voicemails and text messages and lets me hear voicemails and text by clicking one button for listening/ or calling back the caller. My problem with Google Voice is the lack of Skype-like functionality. As a podcaster, I need to record up to 60 minutes of audio via phone call, then download the audio into an audio editor like Audacity. GV provides free phone calls to North America but not internationally which I need for many podcast interviews. Skype-to-Skype calls are free if the person called is also a Skype member. Most of my guests already use Skype; so that's not a problem. In the past, I used Call Recorder, a separate program on a Mac, PC or iPhone to record the call, export an MP3 file, edit with GarageBand or Audacity to edit the final podcast. I can't do this with Google Voice. If Google Voice offered a similar way a la Skype to make free international calls for podcasts with a call recording app, then GV would compete against Skype. I'm now trying to use a ChromeBook, HangOuts and a recorder app, but I haven't found a good solution yet. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

i used to use this extension all the time and it worked well, now it rarely ever updates and never lets me know when i have a message with out me refreshing it. and it sucks to have to bounce between gmail(hangouts) and voice when making phone calls. id rather it all just be voice.

Trying to call by clicking on a link in a web page doesn't work with using "google talk" will not initiate to hangouts on my chromebook... fix it! Oh, and if anyone is listening... please make hangouts on my android phone work with real VoIP calling!
