It never automatically removed overlays for me, but it definitely works getting overlays shut off. It is a true shame that Google buries this, and many other, very good extensions. If you type "Behind the Overlay", Google's Chrome Store won't show this extension, but all kinds of other extensions. It was driving me crazy, trying to find this extension that I used on another computer. I knew it was "Behind the Overlay", but I didn't remember the name was without spaces. I had to search online, outside the Chrome Store to find the extension, and see it was the name just without spaces. You could never find this, and many others, unless you type the exact name. This is disgusting behavior, but not surprising because Google is a criminal organization, after all.

Been using this extension for years to get rid of those annoying in-your-face popups. It of course does not work on stuff that *isn't* overlays. The most aggressive sites you just have to block JavaScript entirely, or just stop supporting hostile design by using these sites.

Just installed this plugin and am enjoying it so far. The first suggestion I have is for there to be a keyboard shortcut to disable the "No overlay has been found on this website." popup that is displayed by the extension in instances when you trigger it with Cmd+Shift+X. When no overlay is found and this box pops up, you are forced to move your mouse pointer to the "OK" button and click to dismiss. I know it's a small issue to have with an otherwise great plugin, but fellow power users who utilize keyboard shortcuts will agree - the act of having to move your hand from its current position where it's ready to press whatever keyboard shortcut you need next is one of the *most* annoying things ever. I suggest some sort of execution where you can dismiss the popup box by pressing the Cmd+Shift+X shortcut one more time when said popup is showing. A small tweak, but worth it in time saved! Otherwise, no major complaints and a (so far) great extension!
