This extension is for anyone, who uses websites with pop-up ads (ads that open in a new tab).

red icon -> TabBlock prevents opening any new tab.

green icon -> TabBlock allows opening new tabs freely.

Note! Redirections to ads in the same tab still work! You can try to block them by using other extensions or simply return with "back" button.

TabBlock does not block any normal ads.

Manifest v3 Update: The new approach in Manifest v3 prevents extensions from running in the background all the time, leading to a cold start that can significantly increase the time needed to close a new tab. However, this is purely a cosmetic downgrade - TabBlock now filters out all requests to new tabs instantly, in addition to its ability to close tabs.

It works very well! Very easy to use! Also, if anyone is in the comments trying to figure out how it works, you click the extension and if it is red it means it is enabled, and if it is green it means it is disabled. It is a little confusing that way, but if it works it works.

It works too well. I use it to prevent ad-heavy sites from opening spammy links in new tabs, but it prevents you from manually opening them too, and even from switching to a user profile with the extension in use. 5 stars if the dev can find a way to allow opening new tabs when the user initiates it.

It works, but as another reviewer put it: It works TOO WELL. There should be an option to only turn it on for certain sites, or only turn it off for certain sites, and not destroy tabs when closing Chrome. This even blocks INTENTIONAL new tabs (press ctrl+t, click new tab button, middle-click link to open in a new tab) and having to toggle the block every time I want a new tab is annoying.

can you please make this stricter? like maybe get a password or something? it's too easy to just toggle it off and go back to normal.

Works well... TOO WELL. When you close out of chrome with this extension enabled, you are LOCKED OUT OF THE WINDOW, and it forces all tabs to stay closed unless you end process. Please fix this.

perfect!! much better then all the other tab blockers which randomly turn off plus this doesnt show the new tab for even a second it completely disables it
