great app if u wanna learn language...
Honestly I don't mind the limited content right now. I am hyper focused when I watch, so I don't move through shows very quickly; I aim for 100% comprehension. If I do finish a show, I watch it again to try and understand it better or without captions etc.
As someone else has noted, the content from the collaboration between Lingopie and Netflix is really lacking. I've accidentally stumbled upon this realization by the fact that I received an email receipt from Lingopie of the automatic renewel of my yearly subscription. (which really pisses me off. I cancelled my sub a day before the renewel and they still processed the charge. Gross). Anyway, uppon receiving the email, I thought, screw it, let's see if they've gotten better content. After 2 years of not using Lingopie, I opened the app and webpage only to find that the same movies and shows that I was dissatisfied with 2 years ago were still circulating. I thought, well they're collaborating with Netflix, there's probably a ton of content. But, I was dissapointed. The amount of content they've added since my 2 year absence is what seems like 30 shows/movies. LingoPie has mastered their craft. Of the small collection of the content they have, the quality is amazing. However, the amount of content is small. If you want a useful tool, use Lingopie, if you are looking for a Netflix equivalent of content to watch, this is not the app. Because I'm someone who has struggled to find a plethera German language content to indulge in, I was very dissatisfied with their selection, especially since I paid a subscription fee. I want to rate the extension a 2, but I'm rating a 3 because the website (Netflix collab is only available via web browser) works well....?
seems to work really well.
muyyy biennnn. gracias.
This is a very helpful tool. It can be a bit overwhelming at first if you have been learning through an App. You may find out that a lot of the words and phrases you are learning are not used in everyday modern conversation. Therefore, you may feel that you are starting over in some ways. But, this make it a whole lot easier to do so. It's as close to immersion as you can get. And, the built in phrase/ word explanation for each line is incredible! I imagine that takes quite a bit of time to complete, so I don't think it is a negative that the selection is limited or slow to update. It uses Netflix, but it is not Netflix.
Good things - the link with Netflix is great - love the subtitles -love that you can see the translation as I am watching the movie Not-so-good things - my biggest beef is that content is not updated hardly at all - it's been the same movies on Netflix in fact for months. If they would update I definitely would renew.
Its a fully paid extension. should have mentioned it the description.
I am enjoying the German shows very much. Using desktop PC; haven't tried it on MacBook yet.
Great for French and Spanish. I just hope that I could use Lingopie on my Ipad the same way that I do on my Windows PC and my Iphone. the Ipad application works only in portrait and doesn't rotate on my ipad so that I can use it in landscape. Lastly, the IOS version doesn't support Netflix subtitles.
