Try h264ify if YouTube videos stutter, take up too much CPU, eat battery life, or make your laptop hot.
By default, YouTube streams VP8/VP9 encoded video. However, this can cause problems with less powerful machines because VP8/VP9 is not typically hardware accelerated.
In contrast, H.264 is commonly hardware accelerated by GPUs, which usually means smoother video playback and reduced CPU usage. h264ify makes YouTube stream H.264 videos instead of VP8/VP9 videos.
Note: 4K and 1440p videos will not be available because YouTube no longer encodes those videos in H.264

다른 작업하면서 유튜브 보는데 버벅이는데 이래저래 알아보니깐 코덱 문제라 해서 설치했습니다. 설치 하니깐 동영상 버벅임 없이 잘 나옵니다. 그리고 이건 개인선택사항인데 그동안 720P 이상에서 60프레임이 강제적으로 재생됐는데 60프레임 해제 기능이 있어서 좋내요.

did some tests and yes this does wok really well. without it i just get high cpu and stutter,,,,with it i get low cpu and no stutter. win win
Works as description says. 5 stars!
Must have if you have old laptop. Quality is a little bit worse, but it works. Before this addon i couldnt watch even 720p videos, with it I watch 1080p

Отличное расширение. Убрало тормоза при просмотре 60 fps с youtube. Загрузка процессора снизилась с 98% до 35%. Почему уроды с youtube не сделают в настройках подобную функцию? Спасибо!
