Try h264ify if YouTube videos stutter, take up too much CPU, eat battery life, or make your laptop hot.
By default, YouTube streams VP8/VP9 encoded video. However, this can cause problems with less powerful machines because VP8/VP9 is not typically hardware accelerated.
In contrast, H.264 is commonly hardware accelerated by GPUs, which usually means smoother video playback and reduced CPU usage. h264ify makes YouTube stream H.264 videos instead of VP8/VP9 videos.
Note: 4K and 1440p videos will not be available because YouTube no longer encodes those videos in H.264

Perfect for low powered computer - AMD E-350 in my case - with hardware H264 decode but not VP9. I have nothing against VP9, but with older hardware not supporting hardware decoding for it I need to switch to H264 without Youtube stutter all over the place. Thanksfully this extension solves the problem.
This is a must-have extension if you're using a low-powered cpu! Fixed the stutter on my new Toshiba Chromebook 2. Now I can actually take full-benefit of the 1080p IPS screen.

VP8/9 is great. But having only a laptop or even Chromebook, this saves you headaches. Nice work!
Honestly, I have a Toshiba Chromebook 2 and this makes me able to watch 1080p 60fps smoothly (before 720 fps wouldn't even work) This should really come standard.
