This was fine until the new version, now I can't even sign in. All I get is a blank window headed with the Elsevier logo and the extension panel says it's signing me in. The wheel keeps spinning and nothing else happens. I've whitelisted mendeley.com and elsevier.com in my adblockers and this had no effect. I'd switch to RefWorks, but their web importer isn't much better. Guess I'm back to entering all my references by hand...
The hatred I feel for this app is immense, yet I am forced to use it by my school. Word extension, Chrome extension and main app obviously hate each other too and aren't on speaking terms with one another. The app makes-up its own titles and author names for every article I wish to cite, so I have to enter everything manually nearly every time. Chrome extension fails to log me in sometimes and just stays stuck.
Web Importer not working...
Adding {article name} to Mendeley failed - when I try to add an article from scopus.com When I try to add an article from pubmed - no error.
It works great still in new version of Chrome. After you download follow the steps: 1. Download mendeley software 2. Install the software and login 3. Install the chrome plugin 4. Disable all adblocking and tracker blocking plugins in Chrome 5. Go to mendeley website and login from there first 6. Find a random article on the internet else when you click the plugin it is not going to respond 7. Click on the plugin and the new window will pop up (asking to sign in) P.S. sometimes you are going to see an Internal Error within login page. Just refresh several times and it will essentially open. Here is the video tutorial created for this review: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cr6q23VX7ZX Like this comment if it helped.
I am using it on Ubuntu 20.04. That Add to Mendeley button just doesn't work for me. I clicked it multiple times and even reinstalled this app. yet nothing happened. I refreshed mendeleydesktop multiple times and checked the online library. I guess i'll do it manually like always. Update: Now I am using it on Ubuntu 22.04. Now, it is working, but not without issues. When I click on the icon, the menu appears, I can add the detected reference to my library, but I can't close the menu, clicking on the X does nothing. Please fix this. This is very annoying. In order to get rid of the menu, I have to refresh the tab.
It does the job... most of the time and with a grain of salt. There're several hurdles that have been following me with this extension for at least 2 years. 1. Every couple of days when I click on the extension, it asks to sign in. I had long time ago enabled 'remember me' wherever possible at Mendeley and Elsevier. There's no explicit setting to 'remember me' in the extension. It keeps losing credential verification. Furthermore, when I click 'Sign in', it does so without asking my login-password (thanks heavens), but I have to wait for 3-5 minutes. Sloppy SQL-query? What's that???? 2. Automatic article detection often doesn't work. There're a lot of weirdly designed publisher sites. I am glad Mendeley handles most of them. However, it barely copes with PDF files, and they are often the only container of all bibliographic info (especially, when working with technical reports). Could be improved. 3. Capitalizing Every Word In The Title. Conventions are different, among the labs and among research communities. But I would be very happy if I could configure the way the title is added to my library - whether it is Sentence case or Caps Every Word - instead of doing it manually later of meddling with formatting when putting the bibliography list together. Thank you.
Necessario miglioramento nella fluidità: troppi impuntamenti ed ancora non ho capito come rimuovere citazioni inserite per errore.
