AI product readChrome companion extension for Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software, bridging Dragon's voice command capabilities to the Chrome browser via native messaging
Dragon NaturallySpeaking's built-in browser support cannot directly interact with modern web pages in Chrome. This extension enables Dragon users to use voice commands (clicking elements by name, dictating/editing text) within Chrome, including support for Google Docs and specialized web applications.
1) User installs Dragon NaturallySpeaking desktop software (v13+) and the Chrome extension. 2) The extension injects content scripts into all web pages. 3) When Dragon is running, the extension's background service worker connects to Dragon via Chrome native messaging (com.nuance.dgnria). 4) Voice commands spoken to Dragon are relayed through the native messaging host to the extension, which then parses the DOM, identifies clickable elements and editable fields, and executes the requested actions (click, dictate, edit) on the page.

- Target users
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking users (version 13+) who browse the web with Chrome / Professionals requiring hands-free web navigation and text input / Medical professionals using Dragon with web-based clinical applications
- Cannot inspect the native messaging host (com.nuance.dgnria) code or Dragon desktop application to verify full feature requirements
- Cannot confirm whether Dragon NaturallySpeaking itself requires a Nuance account or activation key beyond the initial software purchase
MonetizationNo paid features detected
The extension itself contains no payment logic, subscription checks, premium feature gating, billing APIs, or upgrade UI. Searches for premium, subscription, license, upgrade, payment, and purchase returned zero matches. Dragon NaturallySpeaking itself is a paid desktop product, but the extension does not gate or manage those paid features — it is a free companion that bridges Dragon to Chrome.

- Reason
- The extension is a local bridge between Chrome and the Dragon NaturallySpeaking desktop application. It communicates via Chrome's native messaging API (chrome.runtime.connectNative('com.nuance.dgnria')) — no login UI, no authentication flow, no account creation is implemented in the extension itself. The keyword hits for 'login' and 'auth' are all false positives from @author comments and commented-out debug logging strings.

I am using Dragon Pro 14 and while the extension worked for a while very well, and then all of a sudden it would not work at all. There are still some bugs that they need to work out on this!
Bitte dringend beheben!!
On the one hand, when the extension does work, it tends to disable parts or all of the keyboard. However, without the extension it is impossible to talk directly into applications like Facebook or other websites. I have been a Dragon user since the very early days and am very familiar with how speech recognition is designed to work. For the record, I do not have the same issues for the most part with Microsoft programs. The worst part is Nuance does not seem to take customer feedback seriously. It's as if they assume it is always the customer who is doing something incorrectly.
Extrêmement pratique lorsqu'on utilise beaucoup le navigateur je recommande cette application
Ummm, isnt the extension supposed to work? I have chromeBox and its a No Go. Why bother putting an extension out w/o informing on what platforms it works or SOME kind of information abt what to expect or how it works?? How bout a big WTF to Dragon!
Funktioniert in keiner Weise
I will admit that I hated Dragon when I first started using it, but the problems were not Dragons fault. It was the hardware I was using and I did not understanding how to train it properly. I'm using Dragon to dictate this response, and I have had very few errors in spite of the fact I don't speak very clearly, but you have to use the dictation box, then click transfer to pasted into an email or this review. I primarily use the Firefox browser and Gmail and have no problems dictating when using Dragon 13. The problems I had at first with Dragon I discovered where do to the microphone I was using. Now I'm using an Andrea USB headset, and I discovered that each time you use it you have to be certain that the white died on the microphone is facing your mouth. I don't know what causes the microphone to rotate when you remove it, or place it on your head but it does. So you have to be certain to rotate the microphone so that white dot is facing your mouth or you won't be understood. When I encounter a problem the first thing I do is a microphone check, it might be a good idea to do that each time you open Dragon. Also you need to train Dragon by reading to it, set Dragon to save your profile each time you close it and to take advantage of the Accuracy Tuning to properly train Dragon. As someone who has gone through it I understand the frustration so many people are expressing, however I hope this helps some of you who have been disappointed with Dragon, because it really is an excellent program once you understand how to overcome the problems you're having.Just to clarify things, although this extension seems to work okay in Firefox, you should disable it in Chrome, and use the dictation box. Remember to left click on the text field in the email so that it is blinking, before you open the dictation box, left click on transfer and it will go where you want it.If you forget to do that don't panic when you click on transfer and it disappears. Just left click in the document where you wanted to go, then right-click to open the menu, then left click on "paste".
Does not import Gmail sent items. When offered a solution it caused a security flag. Too much time involved in setup, plus speech recognition is nearly impossible. My android recognizes my voice pretty clearly and except for minor corrections, is far superior/
This extension crashes constantly on Chrome and Firefox and always has. When it works it's very good. I like it, when it works. Years of 1 and 2-Star reviews makes it clear, literally don't care if it works or not. This is what they call their "consumer" market. Nuance started with training wheel versions of Dragon Recognition Personal / Professional. Now list on NASDAQ with huge vertical markets and their "consumer" market is no more than dust on their pants. They seem to have no more than a nuanced view of what a Google Chrome Extension is about and what we need. The company's website is filled with beautiful, inspirational ad agency copy about who they are and what they do. Enjoy these gems on www.nuance.com/about-us/who-we-are.html - "Exceeding expectations is a baseline for us—so much so that our customers have come to expect it." A baseline expectation of 1-Star ratings for a Google Chrome Extension is not acceptable? Also see on their site - - "Relentless overachievers" Please, please achieve a bit for the Chrome consumer users. - "Professional listeners...we never forget the importance of paying attention." Hey, you, listen up, pay attention, here's another 1-Star. - "Understanding a customer’s distinct needs, obstacles, and goals is the key to tailoring a solution that succeeds on every level" Please read the reviews for clues to what is distinctly needed in a Dragon Recognition Extension for Chrome Web Store. Exceed, please. BTW - I typed this keystroke by keystroke 'cause the Dragon Web Extension crashed. Could have used "Dragon Dictation Pad" but didn't, I want to retain the nuance of my negativity.
I doesn't always work.
