This extension will make mailto: links open in a Gmail compose window. Nothing more, nothing less.
* Supports Google Apps accounts
* Works on javascript-inserted links
* Includes option of working on bcc: fields
It supports to, cc, subject, and body (and optionally bcc) fields, and is made to be compatible with RFC2368, the mailto: scheme standard.
It doesn't modify the mailto:address itself, so you can still see the link in the status bar when you hover over it, which allows you to easily read the target at a glance.

I use Chrome for private stuff and Firefox for business stuff. This extension also changes links in Firefox, so whenever I click on a mailto: link in Firefox, new Gmail tab opens in Chrome, rather then new email in my default email client. Apart from that it works perfect.
Great extension! Didn't need to restart Chrome, but it would not work until I refreshed the page with the mailto link (that's probably why people think they need to restart Chrome).

Did not work even after restarting, mailto links merely opened outlook
It is pretty easy to set up the mailto Function
It should pull mailto querystring parameters dynamically on click, not statically. If the page alters the mailto subject or body after the page loads, this extension will not detect it.
