High Contrast lets you browse the web with your choice of several high-contrast color filters designed to make it easier to read text.
When you install this extension, all pages are "inverted", so black becomes white and white becomes black. Press the "browser action" icon in the toolbar to toggle it on and off, or customize your settings on a per-site basis. Use a convenient keyboard shortcut to quickly change your settings while your browse.
Other extensions try to change the default colors, but this ends up breaking many popular websites. Only this extension applies filters to your page that invert almost everything - the only exception is photos, which are left alone.
Also note that the Chrome web store and other built-in pages like the New Tab page and Settings pages are unaffected - extensions like this one are not allowed to modify them, by design.

Typically works well, but though the description is wrong when it says "the only exception is photos, which are left alone". It inverts images too.

Malware! I was duped. This extension was just updated to 0.9.4 and it's supposedly an official Google extension, it's not.
When it works it's great. Problem is that it stops working about once a week and has to be reset. Not so big of a problem if you aren't already visually impaired, but I am, so it's annoying as heck. I don't know why this happens, perhaps there are minor updates to Chrome that cause it to stop working. As of today however, it won't reset and appearts to have stopped working altogether. I can not do without it and will hae to find an alternative.
Het ging mij om de vaak te lichte, slecht leesbare teksten op veel sites, en hij doet dat redelijk tot goed. Maar soms ook afbeeldingen worden helaas beïnvloed terwijl daar contrast niet nodig is. Ideaal zou zijn als dit gescheiden zou kunnen worden gekozen. Verbeterpuntje voor Google?
Great so far. Use it for a site with very difficult to find input fields. Works a treat. Like that you can customise per site.

The "Normal" view causes many discourse based forum to look incorrectly when in dark mode, when High Contrant in Normal color scheme, which should not change anything.
