Version 1.2.0 adds dark mode support.
Version 1.3.0's only change is to use manifest_version 3. For this extension, this does not affect behavior at all. The change is required to keep the extension listed in Chrome Web Store.

While it does what it said it does ... it lacks any customization .. Like the background color at least. So it can match the my title bar theme.

does exactly what it says, without any extra permissions. super -light weight hence responsive. must have for those people who doesn't like /or want to get rid of recent thumbnails from google chrome new tab page. thanks dev. did a great job.
