Version 1.2.0 adds dark mode support.
Version 1.3.0's only change is to use manifest_version 3. For this extension, this does not affect behavior at all. The change is required to keep the extension listed in Chrome Web Store.

Does what it is supposed to. Requires no special permissions (3-23-2014)
This extension is exactly what I have been looking for! When I open a new tab, I either google something or just type the URL I want to go to in the omnibox. I do not really care for the distractions on other new tab page extensions. (And the Chrome's default net tab page is just weird.) On top of that, it does not require any special permissions like browsing history or extensions. Warning: If you like to access to your apps or bookmarks from the new tab page, this is not for you as the bookmarks bar and apps shortcut are removed. (That is the point though!)

Does exactly what the title implies, which is exactly what I wanted. There are plenty of feature rich new tab extensions out there. This one is good enough for me.
